Childhood Information

  • Male Describe your personality and temperament as a child: I was a happy child who was shy but always had friends. My older sister was very extroverted and always made sure we had lots of kids to play with. I was very well behaved and never got in trouble in school.
  • Male What was your favorite thing to do as a child: I loved listening to stories as a young child and also loved to play catch with my dad. I also loved hiking and playing basketball.
  • Male What did your parents teach you to value: My parents taught me to value family and really instilled a sense of travel. My father was in the Army, and we moved around constantly. Whenever we would move to a new location, we would always take the opportunity to see all the sites in the area. Usually, by the time we left that spot, we had seen and done more things in two years than some people had who'd lived there their entire lives.
  • Male How were you in comparison to other children: I was usually taller. I was faster than most kids. I was always one of the smarter kids in my class. I fit in fine wherever I went and didn't have much conflict growing up.
  • Male Describe your personality and temperament as a teenager: I was a well-behaved teenager and felt confident. I was always on the basketball team in high school and was considered "popular", though I was never a mean, snotty kid. I was in honors classes and felt more at home with the "nerdy" kids than the "cool" kids.
  • Male Did you have any problems as a child and/ or as a teenager: Not really. After my freshman year in high school my father got reassigned from Washington D.C to Arizona, and I had to leave all my friends, again, and start over. It took a few months to find my place at my new school, but once I did, I had a great time and have no regrets or bad memories.
  • Male Who was the most important influence on you and why: My father and mother. They were both very loving and supportive and I always felt like I was part of a stable, happy home.
  • Male What were your ambitions/ goals as a teenager: I always knew I wanted to help people, but did not exactly know how. I thought of becoming a doctor, a lawyer, a spy :), and never really considered law enforcement until after college.
  • Male What were your best and worst subjects in school: I never really had a "worst" subject, but I'd say that language arts and social studies/history always came easier to me than math and certain sciences (chemistry mostly).

A Few Q&A's With The Donors

      nested adoption logomark
      • Female If you could write a message to the child born through your participation as a donor for when they turn 18 years old, what would you like to say: We would like you to know that you were made out of absolute love, and it was one of the hardest decisions we have made to give you up as we did not have the means to care for the additional children our embryos could have produced. We wanted the opportunity for you to be given to a loving family who wanted you as much as we did and for you to have the opportunity to grow up and be the incredible humans we know you will be. We hope that we get the opportunity to meet you one day. Our own children hope to be able to connect with you one day too.
      • Female Describe your personality, temperament, and character: Easy going, able to adapt to most situations, problem solver, funny, caring.
      • Female What physical, artistic, intellectual or social abilities do you feel best about: I believe I have a warm smile and can make most people feel at ease around me, I've always been one to jump in and help when those around me need it. I've always been able to get by on my common sense and street smarts and complete any task well.
      • Female What are your present and future career goals: I have been working for a school district for 26 years in several capacities, most recently for the last 12 or so years doing accounting. I enjoy math and the challenges it brings daily and continue to work up the chain in my field within the district. I have a goal of retiring early at 54 with a comfortable retirement in order to travel with my husband.
      • Female What are your present and future personal goals: My passion is being there for my 2 children, watching them come into their own and supporting their interests. My son loves theater and acting and singing and my daughter loves dance. Being able to provide them opportunities to pursue these interests is what keeps me going each and every day.
      • Female List the 3 achievements you are most proud of: Not giving up on our dream to have children, doing the research to decide how we could have a family when we were met with challenges, working hard to pay for it so that it didn't break us financially, and remaining positive through the whole process. Working for the same organization for as long as I have, growing within that company to the position I am in and will continue to move up over the next 12 years. Being able to be close to my parents and my inlaws who both live next door to us, being able to care for them as they grow older.
      • Female What is one of your most memorable moments and why: The day I met my husband, we talked for hours on that first day and everything in the world just seemed to fall into place with him. We were instantly connected and within a few months we were engaged and have been married for almost 20 years.

      • Female Favorite Book: The Great Gatsby
      • Female Favorite Color: Blue
      • Female Favorite Food: Good street tacos
      • Female If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why: I can be a bit of a procrastinator. But I tend to work better under pressure so it balances out.
      • Female Is there a person alive or dead whom you admire and why?: My maternal Grandfather. He accomplished so many things in his lifetime but always had time for his family and caring for others.
      • Female What would you do on a “perfect” day if you could do anything you wanted: Sit on the beach in the rain by myself. It's my favorite place to be when it's empty and calm and quiet
      • Male If you could write a message to the child born through your participation as a donor for when they turn 18 years old, what would you like to say: I want you to know that you were loved before you ever entered the world. We wanted the best for you, and knew that you would make your family complete! We would love to know you, if that is something you would want, and would especially love for you to know your brother and sister. We hope that life has brought you nothing but the best, and know you have always been in our hearts.
      • Male Describe your personality, temperament, and character: I am a generally laid back person and have always found myself protective of others (probably why I became a police officer). I have an even temperament, though am very competitive, especially in sports and board games! I can become flustered, especially when I was younger, if I feel like I am not meeting my expectations for myself (hard on myself at times). My character would probably be described as easy going with a good sense of humor. I love comedy and occasionally convince myself I'm a standup comedian :)
      • Male What physical, artistic, intellectual or social abilities do you feel best about: I have always had good hand-eye coordination and could always throw a ball and shoot a basketball very well. I am tall and athletic and love to exercise, mostly hiking and playing basketball. I love movies, music and reading. I love reading about history, some fantasy and sci-fi, and certain biographies. I feel my ability to get along with various groups of people is one of my best social abilities. I feel I am usually a person at work who can be counted on to not complain or gripe and is someone that makes the workplace feel lighter and more fun.
      • Male What are your present and future career goals: My current goal is to be the best detective I can be, as my job consists of investigating and arresting people who hurt children. I feel that this is a very important calling and I am driven to do my best as I have always felt drawn towards nurturing and protecting children. (I always knew I wanted to be a father).
      • Male What are your present and future personal goals: My present goals are to provide my children with as many experiences (travel, sports, activities) as my wife and I can before they are grown and head out on their own. My future goal is to retire and to travel with my wife around the country/world in our motorhome.
      • Male List the 3 achievements you are most proud of: 1. Marrying my wife. 2. Fathering my children. 3. Working in my current position at work.
      • Male What is one of your most memorable moments and why: Two summers ago my family and I traveled to Newfoundland in Canada. We took a road trip from Boston to Nova Scotia, and took a ferry to Newfoundland. Once there, we saw fjords, icebergs, reindeer, whales and all kinds of amazing sights. It was truly an epic family adventure.
      • Male Favorite Movie: Breaking Away
      • Male Favorite Book: The Prince of Tides
      • Male Favorite Color: Blue
      • Male Favorite Food: Cheese Fondue
      • Male If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why: I would try and relax more at times.
      • Male Is there a person alive or dead whom you admire and why?: My father, because he always put his family before his career and he really showed me by example how to be an honorable man.
      • Male What would you do on a “perfect” day if you could do anything you wanted: I would get up before sunrise, hike to a beautiful spot and capture great pictures of the sunrise. Then I would have a family breakfast before heading out for a hike or a trip to the beach or mountains. Then I would take my family for a great dinner before heading to an epic sunset location for more photos.
